Global Change and Sustainability

- Pathway to the sustainable society in 2050 -

Hosted by the University of Tokyo (Todai)

The Alliance for Global Sustainability is an international multi-disciplinary collaboration of four prominent research universities: Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, and the University of Tokyo.

Since its inception in 1997, it has provided intellectual leadership to help societies improve both environmental quality and the quality of life by integrating large bodies of knowledge, conducting research and rigorous analysis, and identifying robust pathways and policies leading to a sustainable future.

The main topics:

  • Mitigation and adaptation strategy to climate change and demographic change
  • Sustainable city-regions
  • Energy pathways to the future: smart grid and smart infrastructure
  • Information exchange and communication between academia and society

We welcome all AGS members and our friends from the academic, governmental, and industrial partners to AGS Annual Meeting 2010.
